October 31st, 2001:
The first WORLD POLE of Experts in the Closure Systems Technology has been launched.

Three leaders in the Closure System Technology world market have joined forces to use their know-how to deal with the primary packaging market and its extraordinarily heterogeneous combination of closures and containers on an overall basis.

The protagonists of the Group:

ANGELUS SANITARY CAN MACHINE COMPANY
AROL spa
CLOSYS srl

The magnitude of the business:

> 23.000 equipment systems installed and working on all 5 continents (>8000 by AROL+ CLOSYS and 15.000 by ANGELUS).

The production program:

  • Can seamers closing machinery for production up to 3.000 cans per minute
  • Cappers for production from 8 up to 1.500 containers per minute
  • Caps feeding devices up to 1.500 cpm

The Group infrastructures:

A total of > 500 people employed by the Group.

The network:

  • Can Seamers Machinery production facility located in Los Angeles
  • Capping turrets, free standing cappers and caps feeding devices production facilities in Canelli (Italy)
  • Sales and technical assistance branches in the USA, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Belgium.
  • Agents and dealers in all the 5 Continents.

History:

  • Angelus Sanitary Can Machine Company was founded in Los Angeles, California in 1910 by inventor Henry L. Guenther. Guenther designed and patented machinery for producing double seams on cans. He had a vision for a company that would produce the finest machines of its kind and distribute them anywhere in the world.
Since then, Angelus has become a major global supplier of can closing and seaming machines. Angelus today is a recognized leader in the design, production and maintenance of high – speed equipment. Its machines are used by Food, Beverage, Non – Food and Can Manufacturing industries around the globe. In the latest models manufactured by Angelus there are the well known characteristics of efficiency, robustness and reliability plus the most recent electronic characteristics.
  • AROL was founded in 1973 with the goal of confirming its presence in the closure system industry. Up until 1982 all the corporate resources were concentrated in the wine producing and agroindustry sector. Starting in 1983 AROL gradually widened its range of production, giving particular attention to the entry of P.E.T. on the market, and more generally, to the new plastic materials, which in a short time were to bring about irreversible changes in the bottling market. In 1995 the decision was made to separate the low production rate machine division (less than 50 containers per minute), in order to focus its energy on the medium and high production rate machinery market. And so, in 1995
  • CLOSYS was founded with the specific goal of investing the know-how gained by AROL in a specific context dedicated to low production rate machines with the purpose of guaranteeing maximum flexibility for the customers, based on a cost effective industrial policy (essential characteristic in industries such as agroindustry, chemical, etc.). Owing to the legacy of experience inherited from AROL, a new range of products was globally developed and quickly gained recognition thanks to its extreme specialization and recognised excellent performance and reliability. Also this new range of products quickly placed at the top of the reference market.

The reasons behind the choice:

The closure machine market (in general terms) constitutes a separate sector with respect to other machines used in the bottling plant industry. The volcanic development of new types of closures and the continuous research in the packing field bring about constant renewal, updating, and the study of more appropriate tools in order to adequately respond to the new needs with maximum rapidity.

Like all of product sectors in the Global Market which is in the process of establishing itself, The Closure System Market required a careful analysis, and if possible, a quick and adequate response to the changing times; all this, without compromising the absolute independence necessary to a specialist when proposing himself as a partner to bottlers companies or to bottling plants turn key manufacturer.

A close examination of the core business of the three companies which initiated this agreement uncovered a potential synergy so important as to suggest a careful study for an integrated industrial plan.

The result of this study confirmed the high profile of the project, thus laying the foundations for carrying out the initiative which was translated into the creation of a true World Pole in the Closure System Technology.

The Mission:

  • To be landmark in a market which is globalising its industrial and marketing strategies.
  • To be an active part in making proposals for the development of new Closure System technologies.
  • To further strengthen the organization of the range of technical solutions proposed in order to satisfy the specific needs for high, medium and low production rates.
  • To make available an exceptional customer care network which brings service quality to maximum levels, thanks to the fact that it is rooted and consolidated in two world reference markets (U.S.A. and Europe), as it targets specific strategies for emergent markets.
  • To be the leading companies in the World in Closure System Technology.
